Sustainability through electrification and the decarbonisation of the sector, the main novelties at this year’s show
The 39th Palma International Boat Show this year presented the latest developments in recreational boating, with new models of boats and products from around the world, and activities to promote training and employment in the nautical sector. In addition, the Palma Superyacht Village area hosted the Innovation Corner, a space dedicated to nautical start-ups focused on innovation in the nautical world, especially with digitalisation and sustainability solutions.
Some of the most important marinas have presented their products, largely focused on sustainability and decarbonisation of the nautical sector, such as Marina Marbella Baleares, which has shown attendees its new brand of self-electric boats Candela – 8, a speedboat, electric and, as a main feature, with hydrofoils that allow it to fly silently over the water and waves.

The boat reaches a top speed of 30 knots and is capable of sailing for more than two hours at 20 knots. It is the first boat equipped with an electric ‘hydrofoil’ system that reduces water friction by 80 percent.
On the other hand, Astondoa has presented for the first time its evolved ‘flybridge As’ range in its entirety, with the two yachts that comprise it, which sail in international waters in Europe and America. The As8, the longest flybridge, combines functionality, aesthetics and glamour, making sailing aboard this yacht a unique experience.
Cecil Wirght has introduced ‘Miss Silver’, a premium fusion of superyacht design and architecture. The yacht can accommodate up to eight guests in four cabins with a crew of five. The interior refit It encompasses new joinery, fabrics and furnishings, audio-visual equipment and high technology.
Medvolt Marine is the first shipyard for electric Llauts, offering tradition and technology for the energy transition in the Mediterranean Sea. Medvolt Marine is a recently created Mallorcan company made up of professionals with a lifetime of experience dedicated to the development and production of high-performance fibreglass and composite boats. They have been present at the Palma International Boat Show as an example that the Balearics have a high capacity for creating state-of-the-art electric boats, which has been made possible thanks to the experience and skill of their shipbuilders.
The shipbuilding industry in the Balearics has demonstrated its commitment to innovation and sustainable development, and has managed to generate a positive impact on the local economy through the creation of jobs and the strengthening of the sector.
Sialia Yachts, a revolutionary brand of eco-friendly boats, has made its world debut at the Palma International Boat Show. The company has unveiled its latest yacht, the ‘Sialia 57’, which is powered by a market-leading electric propulsion system, ‘AMPROS’.
Sialia 57 is an eco-friendly yacht that demonstrates the company’s dedication to innovative technology and nature. Launched in 2022, the 17.6m vessel is built entirely from carbon fibre, making it ultra-lightweight. Sialia 57 reaches a cruising speed of 18 knots and a top speed of 25 knots.
Nauta Morgau, a Mallorcan company based in Felanitx, manufactures handcrafted electric and ecological boats using 60 to 75 % biodegradable, recycled and recyclable materials, such as wood, vegetable fibres and other sustainable materials.
Nauta Morgau has presented in this 39th edition two new models of environmentally friendly boats, the EOS 700, with a length of 7.09 meters, an open bow boat with capacity for 7 people. This boat is produced in two versions, depending on the hull material: natural fibres or wood.
The second model that Marc Balaguer, the founder and CEO of Nauta Morgau, and his team have developed over the last year is the llaüt Tanit, which is born from the union between tradition and future. It maintains the essence of traditional Mallorcan boats with its own design of smooth lines, combined with an innovative electric propulsion and steering system.
All Nauta Morgau boats use electric propulsion and can be charged in port. The installations in harbours and marinas are already equipped with charging sockets and the autonomies of the boats allow safe coastal navigation.
These were some of the new features of this 39th edition of the Palma International Boat Show, which closes its doors this Sunday until next year, with a commitment to development, innovation and the environment in a key sector for the Balearic economy.
